Rehabilitation at Wildlife Learning Company

Wildlife Learning Company staff hold rehabilitation licenses from both the NYS DEC and US Fish & Wildlife Service. We currently accept small mammals, reptiles, amphibians and all bird species based on our capacity.

Birds vs. Automobiles
You guessed it - the auto will win every time! But sometimes, there are happy endings....

Coopers Hawk (left) and Great Horned Owl (right) both sustained internal injuries as a result of collision from automobiles this fall. Happily, their injuries did not have long-term repercussions and both were successfully released back into the wild after treatment.

Summer Snippets

surrogate

An orphaned screech owl from Cherry Valley was raised by captive, permanently injured education bird, Snickers. The orphan is expected to be successfully released this fall!

rehab kestrel

Several injured American kestrels were received this summer, 2 of which have been released in the areas from which they were taken. Another 2 are still under care, one that is an imprinted bird and unable to be released, the other still undergoing pre-release training.
