Susan's Philosophy on Environmental Education

I think that Environmental Education is a critical component to the future of our world. An informed, environmentally literate population makes better decisions. Our role as educators is to build the links and connections to the natural world as a starting point to greater lifelong commitment and personal responsibility. The action is important, but the action with the understanding of why it is important is critical.

We try, every day through our chosen profession, to make some kind of positive difference in our world. Environmental Education is our avenue to making a difference.

Susan is Wildlife Learning Company's administrator, working to spearhead collaborative efforts throughout the environmental community in Otsego County and our region.

A federal and state licensed wildlife rehabilitator, Susan is also a primary caretaker of our live animal teaching collection (although we prefer to refer to them as our animal staff)! She hopes to expand the current license to allow for training of a volunteer network of rehabilitators in Otsego County.

Susan enjoys birdwatching and canoeing, reading for fun, and hopes to someday work on home renovations. An avid networker, Susan is always looking for avenues to partner with other groups for programs and opportunities to accomplish meaningful environmental education goals.
